The Medicines Company’s employment benefits
are uniquely designed to reflect the core value of ownership. The following benefits are available to full time regular associates:
Financial Benefits Emphasize Ownership
Associate Stock Options
All associates are awarded stock options upon date of hire. All associates are also eligible to receive stock options through an annual rewards and recognition program.
Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP)
The ESPP provides associates an opportunity to purchase MDCO stock at the lower of 85% of the fair market value of MDCO stock at the beginning or at the end of each offering period. Associates who are eligible for the plan may deduct up to 10% of their salary (after tax) each pay period.
401K Savings Plan
The Company offers a 401K plan through Fidelity. Full time regular associates may elect up to 25% of their salary deducted pre-tax each pay period, subject to all IRS deduction limits.
Health and Life Benefits Go Beyond Standard
Medical, Dental, Prescription, and Vision Insurance
The medical insurance plan is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and offers both
in-network and out-of-network coverage.
We offer a dental plan with no network—associates may see the dentist of their choice.
We offer vision coverage through VSP to all full time regular associates.
This is an
associate-paid benefit.
Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts
Eligible medical and dependent care expenses may be reimbursed by accounts funded by automatic payroll deductions taken on a pre-tax basis.
Domestic Partner Benefits
Eligible associates who have a registered domestic partnership may enroll for domestic parther health coverage.
Life Insurance
We offer life insurance (company paid) at 2x annual salary up to a maximum of $600,000
to all regular full time associates. Voluntary life insurance, for associates and their spouses, is available at an associate-paid premium.
Long Term Disability
This is a company paid benefit. You have coverage of 60% of Basic Monthly Earnings to
a maximum of $13,000.

Vacation Time, Floating Holidays, and Company Paid Holidays
All eligible associates receive 4 weeks of Vacation, 4 Floating Holidays, and 7 or more Company Paid Holidays per calendar year.
Employee Assistance Program
The Medicines Company sponsors a confidential referral service administered by a third party for counseling and work-life issues available to associates and their family members.
Tuition Reimbursement
The Medicines Company Tuition Reimbursement Program provides financial support
for approved educational activities on a reimbursement basis. There is a maximum
company-paid benefit of $5,250 per calendar year (IRS allowable deduction).
Affinity Federal Credit Union
The Medicines Company associates and their immediate family members are eligible
to join Affinity Federal Credit Union.
Veterinary Pet Insurance
The Medicines Company has made Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI) available to associates
at a discounted rate. |
